“It is only up from here,” Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson gives it back to his doubters after 41-point performance

Klay Thompson on his day can be one of the coldest shooters in the league. He reminded everyone that he dropped 41 points in 36 minutes as the Golden State Warriors won over the Houston Rockets. Thompson was sensational as he shot 60.9% from the field that had 10-13 threes.

It was great to see Klay Thompson balling with authority once again after he missed a couple of years due to injury and then returned last season to win the league. But still his killer touch was missing and now with him heating up along with Stephen Curry, the Warriors will be looking to soar as we head onto the second month of the season.

The Warriors have not been a force to be reckoned with this season as their defense has not stood up as of now and this performance from Klay will surely lift the spirits for the Dubs as they are looking to get back to the form they were in during the NBA Finals a few months ago.

Thompson was averaging 15.6 points per game on 15.5 field goal attempt percentage but after this big performance, his average has gone up to 17.3 points from `16 field goal attempts percentage.

Klay received a lot of flak from the fans and also from former NBA star and analyst, Charles Barkley. But he remained quiet and allowed his play to do the talking. He shut his doubters with a simple 41-point performance. So if he can do that to prove his doubters wrong, the Warriors will surely like more of those going into the business end of the season.

Speaking after the sensational performance, Klay Thiompson assures the fans that the journey from here is only upwards. He was very stoked to help his franchise with a big performance and his excitement suggested that he wanted more of this.

“Man, it feels amazing. That’s it, fellows, it feels amazing. I’m hard on myself. I wanted one of these, so to get one, kind of open up the floodgates, it’s only up from here. I promise you,” said Thompson after the Warriors defeated the Rockets.

The Warriors are currently 11th in the Western Conference with a poor 8-10 record as they are struggling to find their feet especially on the defensive side of things. Even Klay has been casual at times in defence and teams have taken advantage of that situation. Steve Kerr immediately needs to find a solution for the defense as it has not been great from the reigning champions.
