Williams, who had been sidelined for 16 games due to a hamstring injury, rejoined the starting lineup and made an immediate impact. In just 20 minutes on the court, he scored 18 points on efficient 8-for-14 shooting, while also contributing four rebounds and six assists. His presence added depth and energy to a Thunder side that continued its impressive run, extending its winning streak to 12 games.
Leading the charge once again was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who recorded 22 points, five rebounds, and five assists. With the game well in hand, he was rested for the entire fourth quarter. Another notable contribution came from Jared McCain, who scored 13 points in his first game in Philadelphia since being traded last month.
Williams’ return marks a significant moment in what has been a disrupted season for the 23-year-old. After a standout previous campaign that saw him earn All-Star honors, an All-NBA Third Team selection, and a place on the All-Defensive Second Team, injuries have limited his appearances this year. He has featured in just 26 games so far.
His latest setback occurred on January 17 against the Miami Heat, when he suffered a hamstring injury while attempting to control an awkward pass. The incident forced him out of the game and led to a 10-game absence. That came after he had already missed the opening 19 games of the season recovering from offseason wrist surgery to repair a torn ligament sustained during last year’s championship run.
Despite the interruptions, Williams has maintained solid form when available. Entering Tuesday’s matchup, he was averaging 17.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game, while shooting an efficient 47.9 percent from the field.
His return could prove crucial as Oklahoma City looks to maintain momentum heading into the latter stages of the season. With their roster regaining strength and confidence growing, the Thunder appear well-positioned to build on their recent success and mount another serious title push.
