Lakers talisman LeBron James opens up on what it meant to him to cross Mark Jackson and Steve Nash in the All-time Assists leaderboard

The Los Angeles Lakers return to winning ways as LeBron James returns with a big performance against the New York Knicks. The Lakers win in overtime 129-123 against the Knicks who were pretty good on the night but simply could not stop LeBron who came up with a 28-point triple double. It was fantastic to see him play with such dominance even in his 20th season in the NBA.

The 38-year-old aso moved up the ladder in the all-time assists leaderboard as he became fourth surpassing Mark Jackson and Steve Nash. He registered his 10336th assist on the night as he recorded it in the fourth quarter against the Knicks.

Following the match, LeBron James explained what it means to him to get past the NBA legends. He spoke at the post match interview at the Madison Square Garden as he explained what it means to him and also paid his gratitude to his teammates who have been a part of his journey over the years.

“It’s amazing because that’s just what I love to do and get my guys involved,” James said. “Trying to put the ball on time and on target with my guys throughout the course of my career. And another great group that allows me to see the space and see the floor, and I’m able to get it to them with the right type of pass.”

He highlights that he only passes the ball to them and they make the shot and feels that his teammates have done the great job and not only this season but also throughout his career. He also spoke about Mark Jackson and Steve Nash and claimed their passing skills as uncanny as both were exceptional in that trait and NBA Legends in true regard.

“They have to make the shots. They have done a great job of that, not only this season, but over the course of my career, so it’s pretty cool. Anytime you’re linked with some of the greats, Mark Jackson played here, was drafted by the Knicks, super cool thing. We know Nash, played against him for many many years and his ability to pass the ball was very uncanny,” LeBron James added.

LeBron James missed the match against Brooklyn Nets after the controversial no-call against Boston Celtics which took the limelight away from an evenly contested game which saw both sides toil hard and then eventually a mistake from the referee spoiled it all. However James missed the following game against the Nets which the Lakers lost as they did not have LeBron or Anthony Davis.

But with LeBron returning the Lakers have returned to winning ways. Overall they are still in 13th position in the Western Conference with a 24-28 record. The Lakers need to be more consistent with their wins as they aim to climb up the ladder to finish in the playoff spots. The Lakers will now face the Indiana Pacers and it is another game that LeBron and his men will be looking to win and carry the momentum forward.
