Los Angeles Lakers looking to add more depth to their team as they intend to rope in Orlando Magic’s James Ennis

The Los Angeles Lakers have taken last season’s first-round playoffs exit very seriously and it shows from their efforts in the offseason. The front office have paired up Lebron James and Anthony Davis will loads of talent all over the court. They signed some top veterans in the NBA who are reliable and won’t depend on the two to get going.

The biggest signing has to be acquiring Russell Westbrook from the Washington Wizards whereas they roped in Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard as well. However, despite putting a totally stacked team in place the Lakers are still not untouchables as the opponents may still have areas of weakness which they can capitalise against the Purple and Gold army.

The Lakers’ main strength has to be to power their way through and score two pointers. Many of them are below par from the range. While Carmelo Anthony’s arrival will help them from range aswell they will need more players for assistance.

The age factor may also take a toll on the front office’s new agenda of bringing in veterans after they failed in trusting youngsters who let them down last season. Fatigue will play a big role and even injuries will be a cause of concern for the Lakers. So Frank Vogel will have to be very careful and rotate his players according to his need.

The Purple and Gold army will also need more versatility and they may do with some wing players. They are currently looking to sign three players as depth will be crucial. They are currently in search of a wing player who can do it all. According to NBA source Marc Stein, the Lakers are interested in Orlando Magic’s versatile guard-forward, James Ennis.

“For the Lakers, wing depth is more important than a backup guard. James Ennis is a name that has been mentioned for the Lakers,” reported the insider. While it may be an underwhelming buy, it will provide the Lakers with the balance that they need. Ennis is also good defensively and will help them brush their defence. The Orlando Magic star also shoots over 43% from the three-point range and with Kent Bazemore and Carmelo things will look good for the Lakers on the wings.
