Center Mark Williams is set to continue his journey with the Phoenix Suns after agreeing to a new three-year contract worth $38 million. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the restricted free agent intends to re-sign with the franchise, ensuring the Suns retain another key member of their roster.
The 24-year-old enjoyed the healthiest season of his NBA career in 2025, appearing in a career-best 60 games, including 55 starts. Williams averaged 11.7 points and eight rebounds per contest while shooting an efficient 64 percent from the field. He also contributed nearly one block per game, providing a strong defensive presence in the paint.
Williams began his NBA career with the Charlotte Hornets after being selected with the 15th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He spent three seasons with Charlotte before joining Phoenix in a draft-day trade in 2025.
Although injuries have limited his availability during the early years of his career, last season marked a significant step forward as he remained on the court for the majority of the campaign. His consistent performances strengthened his role in the Suns’ frontcourt and made him one of the team’s top offseason priorities.
The new contract follows an unsuccessful attempt by the two sides to reach an extension last summer. Despite that setback, Phoenix has now secured Williams’ future after his productive campaign.
Across his four NBA seasons, Williams owns career averages of 12 points, 8.5 rebounds and one block per game, highlighting his value as a dependable interior player on both ends of the floor.
By bringing Williams back, the Suns have completed the task of retaining all of their priority free agents this offseason. The franchise previously agreed to a four-year, $48 million contract with guard Collin Gillespie before also re-signing Jordan Goodwin to a three-year deal worth $19 million.
With Williams remaining in Phoenix alongside Gillespie and Goodwin, the Suns have successfully preserved the core group they targeted at the start of free agency, providing continuity as the team prepares for the upcoming NBA season.
