Milwaukee Bucks star Jrue Holiday has been one of the best defensive stalwarts in the league. While he has been a sensational player for years for the the Bucks. He has even guided the franchise to a title and has been a great defender in chief for the team.
Holiday has been taking major strides in attack as well. Holiday is averaging 19.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game and is now becoming a fantastic two way player of this generation.
Jrue Holiday recently sat with Serge Ibaka as the Bucks duo discussed the top five defenders in the league right now. He shared different perspective on different players and how one’s defensive trait is different from another’s.
He named teammate Brook Lopez as one of the top five defenders. He also feels that he is up there. Apart from that he highlighted players like last season’s defensive player of the year, Marcus Smart, defensive stalwart, Rudy Gobert and reigning champion Draymond Green.
“OK, I’m gonna say Brook. I know that if I get beat, he’s gonna be there to protect me, ” Jrue shared his thoughts. “Me…I’ll give Marcus Smart. There’s some things that I don’t like that he acts very well but he does play defense. The acting part of it, I don’t know how to act but I feel like the acting probably make good defenders. I’ll say Rudy Gobert. I think he’s really tough and Draymond.”
Holiday himself is a great defensive player. He is a very unique guard who does it all with aplomb. He is a very solid defender and has also developed different ways to stay impactful on attack aswell. This makes him a very vital cog in this Bucks team.
When the player is so good at his craft, it is always exciting to hear his opinions on different things.
Among the mentioned names in the list, Holiday shared teammate Brook Lopez’s name. He is sure that if he misses a player, Lopez is there to not allow an easy basket.
Brook Lopez is having a mind blowing season as he is averaging 2.9 blocks per game and has been an absolute rock on the paint. Hence taking him name was just not out of bias but was very practical from Holiday.
