NBA Analyst Chandler Parsons feels once LeBron James breaks the scoring record, he will be considered the GOAT

Los Angeles Lakers talisman LeBron James is gradually approaching the historic record and with every passing game he is only getting close to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s All-time regular season scoring record. While he has a lot of burden on his shoulder to carry his team to the playoffs this season, his performances have simply been mind blowing.

He has stepped up every time his team needed him and led them like a true leader. Many non NBA fans won’t even believe that the King is in his 20th season in the league and still schooling and bamboozling the defenders on his way to the basket. Overall many fans feel that LeBron James will take over the GOAT status from Michael Jordan once he breaks Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s regular season scoring record. Whereas he is also in the top five in terms of All-time assists leaderboard, which speaks volumes about his greatness. If he is not scoring the points, he is definitely dishing out the assists.

LeBron James is now just 89 points behind the historic record and sooner or later he will only surpass it this season. He recently moved to fourth position in the assists leaderboard as well as he surpassed Steve Nash as he guided the Lakers to victory against the New York Knicks.

NBA Analyst Chandler Parsons feels that once LeBron James breaks the historic record, there is not much left to debate and one must accept that James is the GOAT bringing an end to the GOAT debate which has been the centre of discussions on social media and dinner tables.

“They’re both insane, and I got to give LeBron his flowers … I think to be able to say you have the most points in the history of the NBA is wild,” Parsons said on FanDuel TV. “I truly think once he gets this record we got to officially crown him as the GOAT. The things he’s done, it just speaks volumes on the longevity of his career.”

Parsons shares an interesting observation as he highlights that LeBron James is doing all of this in his 20th season in the league at the age of 38. He feels if the Lakers win more games and get into the playoffs, then LeBron may well be ahead in his MVP conversations aswell.

“Honestly, one of the most impressive things of his whole career, which is insane, is what he’s doing this year at 38 years old, 20th year. This guy, if the Lakers are winning more games, would be my MVP.”

The Lakers are still in 13th position in the Western Conference and after beating the New York Knicks, they will take on the Indiana Pacers and with LeBron James in fine form, the Purple and Gold army will be looking to build a winning streak and only then they can climb up the conference table. The Lakers currently have a record of 24-28 and are keen to improve on that by accumulating more wins.
