The Brooklyn Nets will be without rookie guard Egor Dëmin for the remainder of the NBA season after the team confirmed he is dealing with increased plantar fasciitis in his left foot.
The franchise announced that Dëmin will sit out the rest of the campaign to focus on recovery. He is expected to resume basketball activities early in the offseason and should be fully ready to participate in the team’s summer development program.
Dëmin, who was selected eighth overall in the 2025 NBA Draft out of Brigham Young University, enjoyed an impressive debut season before the injury setback. The young guard appeared in 52 games for Brooklyn, starting 45 of them, and averaged 10.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 25.2 minutes per game.
Despite being in his first year in the league, Dëmin quickly established himself as one of the most productive rookie shooters. He ranks second among NBA rookies this season with 124 three-pointers made. That tally also stands as the second-highest number of three-pointers recorded by a rookie in Nets franchise history.
His efficiency from beyond the arc has been equally notable. Dëmin has shot 38.5 percent from three-point range, the best mark by a qualified rookie in the history of the Nets.
The 21-year-old also made his presence felt during the league’s All-Star festivities earlier this year. Dëmin was selected to participate in the 2026 Castrol Rising Stars event during NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. He played on Team Vince, coached by NBA legend Vince Carter, and helped the team win the mini tournament.
Throughout the season, the Moscow native produced several standout moments that highlighted his scoring ability and shooting consistency. On December 29, he set a Nets rookie record by knocking down seven three-pointers in a single game against the Golden State Warriors, finishing 7-of-14 from long distance in that contest.
Dëmin also made NBA history earlier in the season when he set the rookie record for the longest streak of games with at least one three-pointer. The guard connected from deep in 34 consecutive games, a run that lasted from November 7, 2025, through January 30, 2026.
While the injury brings an early end to a promising rookie season, the Nets remain optimistic about Dëmin’s recovery and long-term development as he prepares to return fully healthy for next season.
