Stephen Curry appears determined to ensure that his contract situation does not overshadow the Golden State Warriors as they prepare for the 2026-27 NBA season.

Following a relatively quiet offseason for Golden State, questions remain about whether the current roster can compete at the highest level. However, uncertainty surrounding Curry’s long-term future does not appear to be among the franchise’s major concerns.

According to Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area, the 38-year-old guard intends to re-sign with Golden State. Curry also indicated that negotiations over a new agreement will not interfere with the Warriors’ preparations for the upcoming campaign.

“There’s no question I want to be here the rest of my career, and I’m pretty sure that’s going to happen,” Curry said.

Curry added that his contract situation will be handled when the time is appropriate, with the priority currently being preparing for another season alongside a group that already has considerable familiarity.

The expectation of Curry remaining with Golden State is also shared by Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints. Siegel reported that an extension has long been part of Curry’s plans and that the Warriors intend to keep their four-time NBA champion. There is also growing belief that Curry could continue playing into his 40s.

Questions about a possible departure have surfaced as Golden State has struggled to consistently surround Curry with championship-caliber talent since winning the NBA title in 2022. However, Siegel reported that such speculation has not been taken seriously within the organization.

One team source described suggestions that Curry could leave as “nothing but nonsense,” according to Siegel.

The situation reflects the unique relationship between Curry and the franchise that drafted him. Siegel compared that connection to other NBA icons who spent their entire careers with one organization, including Dirk Nowitzki with the Dallas Mavericks, Tim Duncan with the San Antonio Spurs and Kobe Bryant with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Curry has spent his entire NBA career with Golden State and remains the central figure of the franchise heading into another season. Despite concerns surrounding the Warriors’ ability to construct another championship contender, there is currently little indication that those challenges have changed his commitment.

For Golden State, the expectation remains straightforward: Curry will enter the 2026-27 season wearing a Warriors uniform, with both sides seemingly working toward ensuring he eventually finishes his career the same way.
