Golden State Warriors players Draymond Green and Jordan Poole made headlines even before the next season of the NBA kickstarted. In a viral video released by TMZ, Green was seen throwing a punch at Poole during the practice session and it created a lot of controversy.
The scuffle also raised doubts about Draymond Green’s future at the franchise. Meanwhile, many NBA experts reckon, including Shaquille O’Neal that Jordan Poole had become cocky after winning the NBA championship in the last season.
O’Neal said on the Big Podcast, “I don’t know what happened, I’m gonna speculate. The pecking order for the Golden State is Steph, Klay, Draymond, that’s it. That’s the top 3.
“Now when you win a championship and you’re a soldier, but you’re a vital part of winning a championship. You coming next year with the big old glasses, you coming with the convertible, you start feeling yourself.” Shaquille O’Neal continued:
“So, when you come in running your mouth, you got to get checked and in my 19 years, I checked a lot of players.
“So, again, when I talk, I try to speak from facts. I don’t try to hurt people’s feelings or jump on people. Because what these players don’t understand is y’all ain’t done nothing that the Diesel ain’t do ever.”
It was expected that Green might receive a suspension from GSW after he punched Poole in the face. However, it wasn’t to be the case as he was penalized with a fine. Green then went on to give his apology to the team and Poole for his aggressive behavior.
Furthermore, it has been noticed that both of these players have made amends and they now have moved on from the altercation they had on the court.
GSW lost their previous match against Denver Nuggets by 128-123 and they will next take on Sacramento Kings on Sunday night.
