The Golden State Warriors have strengthened their roster with the additions of free agents Brandon Williams and Georges Niang, with the team announcing a series of signings on Wednesday.
Williams has reportedly agreed to a one-year contract worth $2.6 million after spending the past three seasons with the Dallas Mavericks.
The guard appeared in 66 games for Dallas last season and averaged 13 points and 3.9 assists per game. His arrival gives Golden State another backcourt option after a productive campaign with the Mavericks.
Williams entered the NBA as an undrafted player in 2021 but has gradually established himself in the league. After initially missing out on being selected in the draft, he carved out a role in Dallas and remained with the Mavericks for three seasons before moving to Golden State.
The Warriors have also reportedly reached a one-year, $3.9 million agreement with veteran forward Niang.
Niang brings considerable NBA experience and perimeter shooting to the Warriors, although he will be returning from a lengthy spell away from competitive action. The 11-year NBA veteran missed the entire 2025-26 season because of injury.
Before his season on the sidelines, Niang most recently played for the Atlanta Hawks, where he averaged 12.1 points per game.
Three-point shooting has been a major feature of Niang’s game throughout his career. He is a career 40% shooter from beyond the arc, providing Golden State with another established long-range option.
The two additions give the Warriors players with contrasting career paths and skill sets. Williams offers a backcourt presence coming off a season in which he featured regularly and produced double-digit scoring, while Niang adds veteran experience and proven three-point shooting as he prepares to return from injury.
Both players have reportedly agreed to one-year contracts, giving Golden State short-term additions to its roster ahead of the new season.
For Williams, the move represents the next stage of a career that began without his name being called in the NBA Draft. For Niang, joining the Warriors offers an opportunity to return to action after missing an entire season and add to an NBA career that has already lasted more than a decade.
