The Golden State Warriors have been dealt a significant setback, with guard Moses Moody ruled out for the remainder of the 2025–26 season following knee surgery.
The 23-year-old suffered a ruptured left patellar tendon during a game in Dallas on March 23, an injury that immediately raised concerns within the franchise. The team confirmed on Saturday that Moody successfully underwent surgery in Los Angeles to repair the tendon.
While the procedure marks a positive step, Moody now faces a lengthy rehabilitation process. The Warriors stated that he will begin recovery immediately, with expectations of a full return. An official update on his progress is anticipated during training camp ahead of next season.
Moody’s absence comes at a time when he was enjoying the best campaign of his young career. Featuring in 60 games, including 49 starts, he posted career-high numbers across multiple categories. He averaged 12.1 points per game while also contributing 3.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and one steal per contest — underlining his growing importance in the Warriors’ rotation.
One of the standout aspects of his season was his efficiency from beyond the arc. Moody converted 40.1% of his three-point attempts and knocked down 151 triples, making him just the 14th player in franchise history to reach that milestone in a single season.
Drafted 14th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Warriors, Moody has steadily developed into a reliable contributor. Over five seasons, he has played 315 regular-season games, making 106 starts, and averaged 8.0 points in just over 18 minutes per game.
He has also gained valuable postseason experience, appearing in 37 playoff games. Though often in a supporting role, Moody contributed consistently, averaging 5.3 points and 1.8 rebounds in limited minutes.
The injury halts what had been a breakout year and leaves Golden State without one of its most improved players as the season progresses. However, with a full recovery expected, the focus now shifts to ensuring Moody returns at full strength for the next campaign.
