Almost two years after his first professional loss, Tyson Fury would enter the ring to fight Arslanbek Makhmudov in his comeback fight after coming out of retirement a few weeks ago. The fight is slated to hold on April 11 in the United Kingdom.

While the exact venue has not been announced, the fight will be streamed live on Netflix, a development that is becoming more of a pattern with boxing fights. 

Fury has not fought since his second loss to Oleksandry Usyk in December 2024. Shortly after the fight, he announced his retirement, which a lot of boxing enthusiasts did not take seriously. So, it came as little surprise when he announced his comeback earlier this month. 

For a while, the big question was who his opponent would be. Even before Fury cancelled his retirement it was almost agreed that he would face former heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, a bout between the two had been looked forward to for years. 

Unfortunately, Joshua was involved in a fatal accident while on a vacation in Nigeria and while he escaped with minor injuries, from all indications, he would not be fighting for a while.

Arslanbek Makhmudov’s name then came up as the likely person to go up against the former WBC heavyweight champion, and it has now been confirmed that the two of them will meet three months from now.

Makhmudov has a fighting record of 21 wins from 23 fights since turning pro in 2017. 13 of his wins have come by knockout in the first round. 

While the Russian has not been in a major title fight before, he has held different regional titles and has potential to be a top-ranked boxer.

Reacting to the news of him facing Fury, Makhmudov sounded quite confident about the possibility of beating the British boxer: “I am thrilled about the opportunity. I’m coming to deliver a war. Tyson Fury has been a big champion. I will be more ready than ever to leave with a massive W.”

With back-to-back losses in his resume, Fury will be looking for a win to set himself back on the victor’s path. 

Makhmudov is the lowest-ranked fighter he’s faced in years, and he would want to make a statement with the win, to announce his return.
