Donald Cerrone has announced his return to the Octagon after a two-year hiatus. The 41-year-old fighter, who retired in July 2022 amid a seven-fight winless streak, is eager to achieve a remarkable milestone: 50 combined fights in the UFC and WEC.
Cerrone’s career, which began in 2007, boasts an impressive record of 36 wins and 17 losses. He is tied for second all-time in UFC victories with 23 and third in total appearances with 38. His comeback aims to not only reach that elusive 50-fight mark but also to set records for most wins and finishes in UFC history.
The Cowboy stated on Instagram, “I want a finish. I want a bonus. Most wins in UFC history. Most finishes. Most bonuses “.
During his retirement, Cerrone candidly admitted to using steroids, claiming they made him feel rejuvenated. He also shut down talks that he would not be allowed back into the UFC after using steroids and other drugs.
He said: “When I retired, I told you I was getting my hair done and get on steroids. The number 50 has been sitting on my mind for awhile. So, I’ve been working with Transcend for the last two years, taking TRT and a bunch of peptides.
“Now we got a protocol for all you people that said, ‘Oh, what if you get on it, you can’t ever come off.’ Well, I now have to come off and piss clean, fight in a few months. So, watch”.
Potential opponents for Cerrone’s comeback include fellow veterans Tony Ferguson and Nick Diaz, both of whom would provide exciting matchups for fans. Cerrone’s passion for fighting remains undiminished, as he expressed a desire to leave a lasting legacy within the sport.
His journey has been marked by resilience; despite recent struggles, Cerrone’s determination to chase greatness resonates with fans. As he prepares for his return, he aims to solidify his status as one of the most accomplished fighters in UFC history. With aspirations to break records and entertain fans once again, Cerrone’s comeback promises to be a must-see chapter in his storied career.
