Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather agreed to a professional rematch scheduled for September 19 at The Sphere in Las Vegas.
This pro bout, which will be streamed live on Netflix, marks the venue’s first boxing event and revives the rivalry between the two legends 11 years after the 2015 “Fight of the Century.”
Both sides finalised terms, with tickets and full card details dropping soon, shooting to surpass the original’s 4.6 million PPV buys through global streaming.
Pacquiao, 47 and holding a 62-8-2 record with 39 KOs, steps back in after recent exhibitions, including a 2025 win, since his 2021 welterweight title loss to Yordenis Ugas.
The southpaw, who has been very active in Philippine politics, has shown no sign of hanging up his gloves, even after all these years.
Mayweather, 49 and still 50-0, comes off exhibitions like his 2023 victory over John Gotti III, following his 2017 pro finale against Conor McGregor.
The first time they met in 2015, Mayweather took a unanimous decision, 116-112 twice and 118-110, raking in $400 million total despite muted action from Pacquiao’s hidden shoulder injury.
Pacquiao landed fewer clean shots but controlled his pace, although judges favoured Floyd’s control.
This time around, Pacquiao is pledging to dent Mayweather’s unblemished record, as he goes into the fight seeking revenge, “Floyd and I gave the world what remains the biggest fight in boxing history. The fans have waited long enough. They deserve this rematch.
“I want Floyd to live with the one loss on his professional record and always remember who gave it to him.”
Mayweather would be entering the fight almost five months after his exhibition fixture with Mike Tyson, another big fight. The 49-year-old looks fit and quite in shape for his upcoming encounters.
For the American, the fight will go the way of the last one: “I already fought and beat Manny once. This time will be the same result.”
The fight’s venue further adds to its appeal. The Sphere is one of the most technologically advanced locations in the world, featuring cutting-edge displays and cinematic acoustics.
It’s been used mostly for concerts, and this would be the first sporting activity taking place there.
