Usyk vs. Joshua II Confirmed For August 20

After months of waiting, rumours, and speculations, the rematch between heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua would take place on August 20 at the Jeddah Super Dome, Saudi Arabia. The fight has been dubbed “Rage On The Red Sea.”

Joshua would try to regain the WBO, WBA, and IBF titles he lost to Usyk via a unanimous decision last year. This would be the second time in his career that Anthony Joshua would try to reclaim the titles he lost in a fight. In 2019, he was defeated by Andy Ruiz Jr but was able to regain the titles within a space of six months. Coincidentally, the rematch with Ruiz Jr took place in Saudi Arabia.

Now, he is returning to the country, and this time, he is set to face the Ukrainian that outboxed him last year, and this time, he is hoping to get things done right better. Joshua has a new training team and has also relocated his training location. Over the months, we have seen videos and pictures of Joshua in serious training sessions, and it is very evident that he has been doing a lot to see that he gets the titles back.

The first fight, which took place in Tottenham, London, ended on a surprising note with Joshua losing to somebody who had just joined the heavyweight division from cruiserweight. But before moving up in the division, Usyk was the cruiserweight champion. So he has always been a fighter to watch out for, but it was still a bit unexpected when he was pronounced the winner of the fight against Joshua last year, although it was obvious he threw better blows than his opponent.

But all of that is in the past. The rematch is about two months from now, so both boxers have till then to perfect their regimen, and we can expect to see a particularly interesting fight that would live up to its name.
