AC Milan secure crucial 2-1 win over Napoli

AC Milan got the job done against Napoli with a gritty 2–1 win at San Siro, and it was a game that had just about everything.  

The Rossoneri couldn’t have asked for a better start, with Alexis Saelemaekers pouncing inside three minutes to put them ahead.  

That early goal set the tone, and Milan looked sharp, snapping into tackles and breaking forward with real purpose.  

Christian Pulisic then made it 2–0 in 31 minutes, finishing off a clever move after good work from Youssouf Fofana.  

At that point, Milan were cruising, and Napoli looked shell-shocked by how quickly they had been undone.  

The first half belonged to Milan, who were clinical with their chances and looked solid at the back. 

But football has a way of flipping on its head, and the second half was a completely different story.  

Just before the hour mark, Pervis Estupiñán saw red for a reckless challenge, leaving Milan down to ten men.  

That moment gave Napoli all the momentum, and they immediately pulled one back through Kevin De Bruyne’s penalty.  

From there, it was all Napoli, with wave after wave of blue shirts pouring forward.  

Mike Maignan was called into action several times, pulling off five big saves to keep his side in front.  

Milan’s defenders threw themselves into every block and clearance, with 22 clearances in total showing how deep they had to dig.  

Napoli looked the more dangerous side, creating 14 shots compared to Milan’s six, but their finishing let them down.  

The San Siro crowd grew more nervous with every Napoli attack, but also roared their team on with every tackle.  

Despite being under siege, Milan stayed compact, organised, and determined not to let their lead slip.  

Napoli’s frustration grew as the minutes ticked away, especially with Milan clearing everything and slowing the game down.  

By the final whistle, it felt like a huge relief for the Rossoneri, who celebrated as if it was more than just three points.  

For Napoli, it was a case of what might have been, as they controlled the second half but couldn’t find that killer touch.  

Milan’s fast start and resilience in the face of pressure proved the difference, showing both sides of their game.  

It wasn’t pretty at times, but sometimes grinding out a win is just as important as playing beautiful football.  

In the end, Milan walked away with a 2–1 victory that keeps them right in the hunt at the top of Serie A.
