Antonio Conte a step away from becoming Napoli coach

Reports have emerged from Italy that Napoli have reached an agreement with Antonio Conte.

This means the former inter and Juventus manager is reportedly a step away from taking over at Diego Maradona Stadium after finalizing the terms of his contract with Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The latest development comes up after the Partenopei accelerated for the 54-year-old tactician following Gian Piero Gasperini’s decision to move forward with Atalanta. The manager, who recently won the Europa League, was among the top coach linked among the top candidates, making talks with Conte to reopen on Friday and progressed quickly over the last 48 hours.

Everything happened swiftly because Napoli directors Giovanni Manna and Andrea Chiavelli have been in close contact with Conte over the last two days. They have offered the former Chelsea boss a three-year contract worth around €6.5-7m net per season plus €2m in add-ons.

Conte is reportedly keen to start a new cycle in the Campania capital as reported by Calciomercato.com Napoli are set to announce the arrival of the former Tottenham Hotspurs manager by Tuesday next week, as they want him to quickly start the new project at the club.

Conte could come with long-time collaborator Gabriele Oriali to the capital of Campania.

It was also reported that the 54-year-old will have an important role in the club’s summer transfer market strategy. With such a free hand given to him, Conte should be able to convince some top players not to leave, except for Victor Osimhen whose exit is all but confirmed.

It is hoped that the partnership with De Laurentiis will work and that Conte will be able to hit the ground running and bring success back to the club.

His last job at Spurs with England won’t affect his CV, as he has experienced success at Juventus, Inter Milan, and Chelsea.

Conte is not new to the Italian top flight, but with the needed personnel, he. may bring back smiles to the faces of angry Napoli fans who protested against the club owner during their final game of the season, which ended in a stalemate.
