Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement with Arda Guler over a new contract that will keep the Turkish midfielder at the club until 2031.
The 21-year-old has become an increasingly important first-team player after establishing himself as one of the club’s key young talents.
The new deal adds two years to Guler’s previous contract, which was due to expire in 2029.
It is also the first time the Turkish international has renewed his terms since joining Madrid, with negotiations reportedly progressing for several weeks.
Guler’s role has grown significantly under manager Jose Mourinho after he initially struggled for regular playing time.
He has already made five starts this season, following a previous campaign in which he was named in the starting line-up 40 times across all competitions.
The midfielder finished last season with six goals and 14 assists, making him the team’s leading provider.
Reports have also suggested that Guler wants to take on a more central role following Toni Kroos’ retirement, although Mourinho has continued to praise his development and natural ability.
His new contract forms part of Real Madrid’s wider strategy of securing their young core for the long term.
Guler joins players such as Aurelien Tchouameni, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Carreras and Espe on lengthy contracts, while Vinicius Junior and Marc Cucurella are tied to the club until 2032.
With Guler’s future settled, Madrid are expected to turn their attention to other players whose contracts are approaching their final stages.
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could be the next senior player to agree an extension, with the Belgian reportedly set to remain at the club for at least another season.
Guler’s development has also strengthened his position with the Turkey national team, where he is viewed as one of the country’s leading young talents.
His increasing influence at club level is expected to give him an even bigger role for Turkey as he continues to gain experience at the highest level.
For Madrid, securing Guler’s long-term future provides further stability as the club continues to build around a younger generation of players.
