Liverpool manager Arne Slot says his side have shown they are “willing to fight” as they prepare for a crucial UEFA Champions League last-16 second-leg clash against Galatasaray.
The Reds head into Wednesday’s match at Anfield trailing 1-0 from the first leg and amid inconsistent form, including a disappointing draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.
Slot pointed to his players’ reaction after conceding a late equaliser against Tottenham as evidence of their resilience.
He highlighted how multiple players tracked back and surged forward immediately after the setback, insisting that mentality has been present throughout the season.
The Dutchman added he expects both the team and supporters to deliver another intense European night at Anfield.
Despite recent frustration among fans, Slot dismissed suggestions of growing unrest, saying he has not personally felt a shift in support.
However, he acknowledged that poor results inevitably bring scrutiny and admitted that if supporters are unhappy, it suggests he “must have done a lot of things wrong.”
He remains confident that a positive result against Galatasaray could quickly change the mood.
Team news offered some encouragement, with defender Ibrahima Konaté declared fully fit after a hamstring issue and available to start.
However, Joe Gomez remains a doubt after struggling with an ongoing problem, while Alexander Isak is still unavailable but edging closer to a return after individual training sessions.
Defender Andy Robertson echoed his manager’s sentiments, stressing belief within the squad despite recent inconsistencies.
He admitted performances must improve following a difficult first leg and said the team is determined to prove it belongs among Europe’s elite by reaching the quarter-finals.
Robertson also addressed fan frustration, acknowledging that supporters left Anfield unhappy after the Tottenham draw.
