Arsenal Defeats Tottenham in the London Derby

Arsenal showed impressive character on Sunday evening to come from behind and defeat North London rivals Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners have been in impressive form of late, going unbeaten in their last four games in all competition with three wins and a draw.

Similarly, Jose Mourinho’s side was on a five-match winning streak before facing Mikel Arteta’s team in the Premier League on Sunday.

The game started with the Gunners on the front foot but Spurs fascinatingly went in front.

First, Spurs had to deal with an injury to Son Heung-Min, he was replaced by Argentine forward Erik Lamela in the 19th minute.

The injury turned to a blessing in disguise for the visiting side as the Argentine put Spurs in front with a rabona strike 14 minutes later.

Arsenal leveled things at halftime through on-loan Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard whose effort was deflected past Hugo Lloris in goal.

Alexandre Lacazette put Arsenal in front after the hour mark after he was fouled by Davinson Sanchez in the box and the French man duly put the ball beyond Hugo Lloris.

The game ended with the Gunners getting all three points although their standing didn’t change as they remained in 10th position with 41 points from 28 games while Spurs are in 7th position with 4 points more than their London rivals.

Meanwhile, Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho scored his first Premier League Hattrick as Leicester City thrashed relegation certain Sheffield United 5-0.

A goal from Ayoze Perez and an own goal from Ethan Ampadu completed the emphatic win for the Foxes.

Furthermore, Southampton lost at home to Brighton 2-1 despite Che Adams’ goal canceling Lewis Dunk’s opener for the visitors.

Leandro Trossard then won the game for the Seagulls in the 65 minutes.
