Barcelona and Sevilla play out draw at Camp Nou

Barcelona drew their first match under new boss Ronald Koeman secured a point against Sevilla at Camp Nou.

Barcelona settled for a 1-1 draw with Sevilla after Philippe Coutinho quickly cancelled out Luuk de Jong’s early goal in Sunday’s LaLiga clash.

The both sides came into the match with 100 per cent records from the first two league matches this season, and both teams matched each other toe to toe.

Sevilla broke the deadlock with eight minutes of the first-half when De Jong smashed the ball past Neto. This was the first goal Barcelona conceded from two this season. Sevilla was to concede when Coutinho took advantage of a Jesus Navas’ error less than two minutes seconds later to level things up.

Ronald Koeman’s men side put up a good fight, but Sevilla were disciplined and persevered against them. They has Barca under a lot of pressure in the second half and almost scored when Ronald Araujo hit his own crossbar.

Antoine Griezmann shot wide from a potential chance, and Ansu Fati aimed at Yassine Bounou from outside the box.

Sevilla have now gone to 18 La Liga trips to the Nou Camp and returned winless.

Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde twice saw headers flash wide, and Youssef En-Nesyri perhaps could have scored when he had a headed opportunity of his own.

In the dying moments of the game, Barca had a late chance, yet Trincao, who brought on replace Griezmann, could not put the ball  Bounou when racing through on goal.

Jules Kounde was highly involved in the game, as he completed more passes (77) than any player in the game and did not concede a single foul.

Later in the match, Jordi Alba limped off, and Barca’s new-signing Sergino Dest came on to make his debut.

Barcelona will go away to Getafe in their first La Liga, after the international break, while Sevilla will travel to Granada.
