Barcelona beat InterCity in Copa Del Rey’s seven-goal thriller

Barcelona manager Xavi spoke about the need not to underate InterCity when both signs clash in the Copa Del Rey on Wednesday.

The Spaniard also disclosed that he was not going to rest the big stars for the fixture and then played Ferran Torres and Ousmane Dembele flanking Memphis Depay.

Pablo Torre, Sergio Busquets, and Frank Kessie form the Midfield in front of Jordi Alba, Jules Kounde, Ronald Araujo, and a Hector Bellerin defence while Inaki Pena kept in goal.

When the game finally got underway, the manager was not wrong as the lower League side pushed Barcelona into extra time after a 3-3 draw in the regular 90 minutes.

Barcelona started the game in front, with Uruguayan Defender Ronald Araujo scoring 4 minutes into the first half.

21-year-old Oriol Soldevila equalised just before the hour mark, and Ousmane Dembele thought he had given Barcelona the victory in the 66th minute until the 21-year-old Oriol Soldevila equalised again in the 74th minute.

Brazilian forward Raphinha stepped up to make it 3-2 in the 74th minute, but Soldevila was destined to get his hattrick, and he did get the hattrick 4 minutes from time to level the scoreline at 3-3.

Ansu Fati would later get the winning goal before the end of the first half of extra time.

Barcelona’s victory follows Real Madrid’s 1-0 win away from home Wednesday as Rodrygo scored at Cacereno.

Marcos Llorente and Pablo Barrios were on target for Atletico Madrid’s 2-0 victory against Real Oviedo. Robert Navarro was the hero for Real Sociedad in a 1-0 win over Logrones.

Youssef En Neysri scored a hattrick in Sevilla’s 5-0 win over Linares.

Three more Copa Del Rey fixtures will continue on Thursday as Real Betis, Osasuna, and Athletic Club travel away to Ibiza, Gimnastic, and Eldense.
