Callum McGregor believes Celtic’s strength in depth was evident in their 5-0 thrashing of Ross County at the weekend.
Brendan Rodgers made six changes following the creditable 1-1 Champions League draw with Belgian side Club Brugge, and four of them – Liam Scales, Luke McCowan, Paulo Bernardo, and Adam Idah – scored in the first half along with the Hoops skipper as the rampant Premiership leaders wrapped up the points by the interval.
Jack Hamilton replaced injured County goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw just before the break, and he prevented a more damaging score-line with a series of good saves. However, there was no doubting Celtic’s superiority.
McGregor revealed in an exclusive chat with the club media channel that there had been no loss of rhythm despite changes being made on the back of a big European night.
The skipper has also singled out McCowan, whose impressive performance made a huge contribution to the game.
The youngster signed from Dundee in August, had sat out the previous two games but returned with a man-of-the-match performance, adding three assists to his goal.
Up next for Celtic is a trip to Pittodrie Stadium to face Aberdeen on Wednesday night for a highly anticipated clash between the two top contenders in the Scottish Premiership table.
The hosts sit second in the standings with 33 points from 14 matches, while the Hoops lead the league by four points, having earned 37 from their first 13 games.
Celtic will be confident of securing another win and extending their lead at the top of the table to seven points, with the Bhoys having avoided defeat in their last 11 matches across all competitions.
It’s been a healthy squad for Celtic so far, with the only absentee being Odin Thiago Holm; apart from that, there are no new injury concerns arising from Celtic’s recent matches.
