Manchester City’s skipper reassures fans of title challenge

Despite a disappointing 2-0 loss to leaders Liverpool on Sunday, Manchester City captain Kyle Walker has promised fans that the team will be in this season’s Premier League title race till the end, choosing to remain optimistic about City’s chances of defending their title.

The defeat at Anfield was City’s sixth loss in seven games, leaving them 11 points adrift of top spot in fifth place. Manchester City are no stranger to this situation as it have won titles in the final games of the season and achieved a record-breaking 100-point campaign, all of which Walker cites as a reason to believe.

Walker took to social media to address the fans, appreciating their support while promising that Manchester City would rise to the challenge.

“We’ve shown time and time again that we can rise to the challenge, and we will do so again. I promise you, we’ll fight until the very end. We know our recent performances haven’t been up to the standard we expect, and we’re aware it’s been tough. Your support, whether in the good times or the difficult moments, means everything to us.” Walker said.

The defender’s words will come as a welcome boost to City fans, who have been worried about the team’s recent form. Dutch striker Coady Gakpo and Egyptian forward Muhammad Salah was on the scoresheet on Sunday as Liverpool established an 11-point gap between themselves and Manchester City while also opening a nine-point advantage over second-place Arsenal.

City’s struggles have not been limited to the Premier League, with the team also drawing 3-3 with Feyenoord in their last Champions League game. The team is currently on a seven-game winless streak in all competitions, and faces a crucial match against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

If City loses to Forest, the visitors would climb above them in the Premier League table. With the team’s next match just around the corner, City fans will be hoping that Walker’s words will inspire the team to a much-needed victory.
