Barcelona defender on Premier League club’s radar

Barcelona’s Uruguay Defender Ronald Araujo has continued to gather interest from other clubs even outside La Liga, with Premier League Club side Manchester United and German Bundesliga club Bayern Munich interested in the Uruguayan.

The 24-year-old has been followed by the two clubs since last season, with Manchester United reportedly close to agreeing on a price with Barcelona in a bid to bring the player to Old Trafford this summer.

Araujo is valued at about £69 million, but despite the interest as indicated by Bayern Munich and Manchester United, he is rather focused on staying in Barcelona this winter. Thomas Tuchel is a big admirer of Araujo while Manchester United are searching for a replacement for the potential departure of French Defender Raphael Varane.

Ronald Araujo moved to Barcelona in 2019 and settled quickly at camp no. So, his interest is enjoying a continuous rise. It is understood that this is not the first time that Manchester United will be approaching the player and that he has rejected when united in previous seasons.

Nevertheless, Erik Ten Hag’s side is even ready to wait until the summer to get their man, but they may have to worry about Bayern Munich, who is ready to pay €100M for him.

However, the player said he’s unfazed by the transfer rumours and will focus on Barcelona.

“There are rumours about me in every transfer window. I’m focusing on Barcelona, that’s all. I’m happy here, and I’m always giving my 100 percent when I wear the shirt; I think I have proven it over the last few years. Again, these are the rumours that are coming up in transfer windows. Last summer, there were rumours about me going to Manchester United… so this is not a new situation. Despite all the talk around the club, as I said, I’m focused here.” Araujo said.
