Early goals from Josip Stanisic, Michael Olise, and Serge Gnabry put the visitors firmly in control within the opening 25 minutes, before further strikes from Nicolas Jackson, Olise again, and substitute Jamal Musiala completed the rout. Mario Pasalic scored a late consolation for the Italian side.
