Raphinha has hit back strongly at ongoing speculation surrounding his future at FC Barcelona, accusing sections of the media of spreading false information about a possible summer exit.
Ahead of this weekend’s decisive El Clásico clash against Real Madrid, the Brazilian winger insisted he remains fully committed to the Catalan giants.
The former Leeds United star admitted he is tired of persistent rumours suggesting he wants to leave Camp Nou or that the club are willing to sell him.
Raphinha claimed that certain journalists have repeatedly published inaccurate stories since his arrival in Spain.
“Since I arrived at Barcelona, from the very first day, there has always been speculation that I’m going to leave this club. I think some people don’t like seeing me here very much, especially in the press. There is one person there who only tells lies.” Raphinha said.
The 29-year-old also dismissed recent reports claiming he had held internal discussions about his future.
According to Raphinha, the stories were completely fabricated and designed to create unnecessary tension around the squad at a crucial stage of the season.
He urged supporters to ignore the reports, insisting that almost everything written by the journalist in question was “irrelevant and untrue.”
Despite the off-field distractions, Raphinha’s focus remains firmly on Barcelona’s upcoming league showdown with Real Madrid.
The Catalans currently sit 11 points clear at the top of La Liga, meaning a draw on Sunday would officially secure the league title.
The Brazilian admitted defeating Madrid in a title-clinching match would make the occasion even more special for both the players and supporters.
Although Barcelona continue to face financial pressure and reportedly need major player sales this summer to satisfy league regulations, Raphinha remains highly valued by the club’s coaching staff.
His performances have reinforced that status, with the winger continuing his impressive form after a standout 2024-25 campaign.
Despite injury setbacks limiting his appearances this season, he has still managed 19 goals and eight assists in 31 matches, underlining his importance to Barcelona’s title charge.
