As La Liga gets closer to resumption, Barcelona has put some of its youngsters in a plan to include them in the team for the rest of the season after having some of them train with the main team.
Barcelona has been having to deal with financial problems all season and has had to go the extra mile in signing players and contract extensions.
In addition to the retirement of Gerard Pique, Barcelona is already in need of making additions in January and in the summer.
Players from the Barcelona youth team who recently trained with the main team include Chadi Riad, Lamine Yamal, Dani Rodríguez, and Ángel Alarcón. The four players trained with the main team on Thursday as Barcelona prepared for the resumption of league matches.
However, one of the youngsters tipped to move into the main team is Chadi Riad. Chadi Riad is a defender and a Morocco youth international; he plays as a central defender and has managed to impress Xavi on the few occasions he’s trained with the main team.
Gerard Pique’s retirement gave Xavi a big headache in terms of replacement, but the club wants to look inward for replacement instead of diving into the transfer market.
Already there have been Copa Del Rey games on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, but Barcelona and Real Madrid are yet to feature.
Meanwhile, Barcelona will face Espanyol on Saturday, December 31, as they hope to continue their lead at the top of the table just before the World Cup break.
Barcelona already leads Real Madrid with two points after the Los Blancos fumbled two of its last three La Liga games before the break.
Real Madrid lost 3-2 to Rayo Vallecano and drew with Girona, while Barcelona are unbeaten in La Liga since the El Clasico loss in October.
