Bayern Munich seal Bundesliga title under Kompany with four games to spare

Vincent Kompany and his Bayern Munich squad are set to celebrate yet another Bundesliga triumph after delivering a commanding 4-2 thrashing of Stuttgart on Sunday afternoon. 

The victory clinched the title with four fixtures still to play, underlining the side’s dominance throughout the campaign.

Kompany’s men defended their crown in style, surging to an unassailable 15-point lead over second-placed Borussia Dortmund. 

Dortmund’s 2-1 loss at Hoffenheim on Saturday had already handed Bayern a golden opportunity, and they seized it with both hands. 

The result marks another major milestone for the Belgian coach, who has guided the Bavarian giants back to the summit with authority and tactical precision.

Stuttgart started brightly and looked the more threatening team in the opening stages. They drew first blood in the 21st minute when Bilal El Khannouss threaded a clever pass to Chris Fuhrich, who side-footed neatly past stand-in goalkeeper Jonas Urbig to give the visitors the lead.

The concession, however, sparked Bayern into life. Jamal Musiala produced a moment of magic, dancing past two defenders before laying the ball on a plate for Raphael Guerreiro to equalise just ten minutes later. 

Bayern needed only two more minutes to take control: Guerreiro released Luis Diaz, whose low cross was turned into a routine tap-in by Nicolas Jackson. 

Jackson had been handed a starting role in place of Harry Kane as Kompany rotated his squad heavily to manage fitness ahead of a busy run-in.

The hosts then put the contest out of sight in the 37th minute. Diaz cut the ball back from the byline, allowing Alphonso Davies to curl a spectacular left-footed effort with the outside of his boot past Alexander Nubel and into the far corner.

After the break, half-time substitute Kane added further gloss to the scoreline. Nubel could only push Leon Goretzka’s shot into Kane’s path, and the England captain finished clinically, though the Stuttgart keeper later produced a fine save to deny Goretzka again. 

El Khannouss kept Urbig alert with a dangerous counter-attack, but the final word went to Stuttgart in the 88th minute when Atakan Karazor set up Chema Andres for a well-taken volleyed consolation.

The late goal could not spoil the party. Bayern Munich are champions once more, and the celebrations at the Allianz Arena reflected a season of relentless excellence under Kompany’s leadership.
