Bayern Munich have been dealt a significant injury setback after Colombian winger Luis Díaz suffered a hamstring injury during the club’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday night. The German giants have confirmed that the 29-year-old will be unavailable for the foreseeable future, although no specific timeline has been provided for his return.
Díaz sustained the injury during a brief appearance against the Premier League side in Munich. The Colombian international entered the match as a substitute in the 68th minute but lasted just 21 minutes before being forced off the pitch.
Following medical examinations, Bayern confirmed that the winger had suffered a minor muscle fibre tear in his left hamstring.
“Luis Díaz picked up a minor muscle fibre tear in his left hamstring during FC Bayern’s Champions League game against Arsenal on Wednesday night,” the Bundesliga side said in a statement.
“The injury was confirmed by examinations carried out by the FC Bayern medical unit. As a result, the 29-year-old attacking midfielder will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.”
The injury comes as a major concern for Bayern, particularly given Díaz’s impressive performances since joining the German club from Liverpool in 2025.
The Colombian has established himself as an important attacking option, contributing 31 goals and 24 assists in 62 appearances across all competitions. His ability to score and create opportunities has made him a valuable part of Bayern’s attacking setup.
With Díaz now facing an uncertain recovery period, Bayern could be forced to make changes to their attacking lineup ahead of a demanding run of fixtures.
Serge Gnabry remains an available option in the wide attacking position, but the club may need to rely on additional squad members to manage the upcoming schedule.
Bayern are scheduled to play three matches within six days, presenting a challenge for the coaching staff as they look to maintain consistency while dealing with the Colombian’s absence.
The Bundesliga side also have another important Champions League encounter against Atletico Madrid next month, adding further pressure to their squad management plans.
Although the injury has been described as minor, the lack of a confirmed return date leaves uncertainty surrounding Díaz’s availability for the coming matches.
Bayern will hope the Colombian can recover quickly and return to action as the club prepares for a crucial period in its domestic and European campaigns.
