Bayern Munich produced a dramatic late surge to defeat Real Madrid 4-3 on the night and 6-4 on aggregate, sealing their place in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals after a thrilling encounter at the Allianz Arena. 

The tie, already finely poised, was a goal fest from start to finish after a five-goal first half.

Manuel Neuer handed Real Madrid the first goal of the encounter barely 30 seconds into the game when his pass was cut out by Arder Guler halfway and stuck into the back of an empty net.

Bayern Munich equalised five minutes later from a Pavlovic header from a corner. Real Madrid were back in the front from Arder Guler’s brilliant free kick midway in the first half until Harry Kane found the net in the 38th minute.

Kylian Mbappe restored Real Madrid lead in the 42nd minute to level the tie on aggregate 4-4.

The second half was merely cautious from both sides as the aggregate tie remained only to explode into life in the closing stages with a flurry of goals and decisive moments.

A key turning point came when Eduardo Camavinga was sent off late in the game, leaving Real Madrid a man down at a critical moment. 

The dismissal proved costly, as Bayern quickly capitalized on the numerical advantage, exploiting spaces that had not previously been available in Madrid’s defensive setup.

Moments later, Luis Díaz brought Bayern level on the night with a stunning strike from the edge of the box, combining neatly with Jamal Musiala before firing into the top corner. 

The goal shifted momentum decisively in Bayern’s favor, leaving Real Madrid struggling to regain control in the dying minutes.

Deep into stoppage time, Michael Olise delivered the decisive blow, unleashing a powerful effort that clipped the inside of the post before finding the net. 

The late goal not only secured victory on the night but also confirmed Bayern’s progression, capping off one of the most dramatic ties of the quarter-final stage as Bayern Munich advanced to face Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.
