Brazil wrapped up its FIFA World Cup 2026 Group C campaign in dominant fashion with a 3-0 victory over Scotland on Wednesday, powered by a first-half brace from Vinicius Junior. The convincing result ensured the Selecao finished at the top of the group standings and booked a place in the Round of 32.
The breakthrough came early when the Real Madrid winger capitalized on a defensive mistake from Scott McKenna in the seventh minute to hand Brazil the lead. Vinicius looked to have doubled the advantage midway through the first half after winning possession from Jack Hendry and finding the net. However, following a VAR review, the goal was ruled out as officials determined he had fouled the defender in the buildup.
The setback did little to slow Brazil’s momentum. Deep into first-half stoppage time, Vinicius rose to meet a cross from Bruno Guimaraes and headed home his second goal of the evening, giving Brazil a comfortable cushion before the interval.
Brazil maintained control after the restart and added a third goal when Guimaraes once again played a decisive role. His pass released Matheus Cunha, who calmly finished to score his third goal of the tournament, sealing an emphatic victory.
With the result, Brazil advances to the knockout stage as Group C winner and will take on the second-placed team from Group K in its Round of 32 fixture in Houston on June 29.
Elsewhere in Group C, Morocco booked its place in the knockout rounds with an entertaining 4-2 comeback victory over Haiti at Atlanta Stadium, securing second place behind Brazil.
The opening half produced four goals as Haiti twice moved ahead. Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou’s own goal gave Haiti an early advantage before Wilson Isidor restored the lead with a powerful strike after Achraf Hakimi had equalized. Ismael Saibair ensured the teams went into halftime level by scoring Morocco’s second.
Morocco completed its turnaround in the closing stages. Soufiane Rahimi struck in the 78th minute to put the African side ahead for the first time before Gessime Yassine added a fourth goal to confirm victory.
The result sends Morocco into the Round of 32, where it is set to face the current Group F leader, the Netherlands. Haiti, meanwhile, ended its first World Cup appearance in 52 years without recording a victory, bringing its campaign to a disappointing close.
