Bukayo Saka has signed a new five-year contract with Arsenal F.C. that will keep him at the club until 2031, in a deal that makes the England winger the highest-paid player in the club’s history.
Sources indicate the agreement is worth more than £300,000 a week, underlining his status as a central figure in Arsenal’s long-term plans.
Talks over the extension had been ongoing for nearly a year, with Saka verbally committing to the deal in January.
Although his previous contract, signed in 2023, ran until 2027, the new agreement secures what are expected to be the peak years of the 24-year-old’s career.
The move is seen internally as a major statement of intent as Arsenal compete for silverware on multiple fronts this season.
Saka, who joined the club’s academy as a youngster, made his senior debut in 2018 at the age of 17.
Since then, he has developed into one of the Premier League’s most consistent attacking players, making 217 league appearances and scoring 57 goals.
He has registered seven goals and six assists in 33 appearances in all competitions this term, with much of Arsenal’s attacking play continuing to flow down the right flank where he operates.
The new contract follows a broader strategy by Arsenal to secure their core players on long-term deals.
Defender William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Ethan Nwaneri, and Myles Lewis-Skelly have also committed their futures to the club, as manager Mikel Arteta looks to maintain stability within a squad challenging for major honours.
Arsenal currently sit four points clear at the top of the Premier League and face Manchester City in the EFL Cup final in March.
They have also progressed to the knockout stages of the Champions League and the fifth round of the FA Cup, raising hopes of ending their trophy drought, which stretches back to their FA Cup triumph in 2020.
On the international stage, Saka has scored 14 goals in 48 appearances for England and is expected to feature in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the World Cup this summer.
With both club and country entering crucial periods, the winger’s new deal provides continuity and belief that his best years will be spent at the Emirates Stadium.
