Busy Sunday awaits La Liga on match day 37

The La Liga champion may have emerged, the UEFA Champions League spots may be 90% confirmed, and even one of the three relegation teams for this season has long before now been demoted. However, with two many days left in the Spanish La Liga, there is still a whole lot more to play for by the 20 teams.

Real Madrid has been in the news for all the good and also controversial reasons in the last seven days; they will open the match in week 37 with a home tie against Sevilla, who, after a poor start to the season, are still in contention for making a UEFA-Europa-league or Conference League place.

Real Madrid’s season has been completed after getting knocked out of the Champions League semi-final, losing the title race to Barcelona but winning the Copa Del Rey for their efforts.

Furthermore, their champions league spot for next season has also been confirmed, leaving them with little to nothing to fight for other than a ceremonial second-place finish ahead of their City rivals Atletico Madrid.

Sevilla, do they need all the wins they can get in their next two games and hope they can get favorable results elsewhere to move into seventh position?

Osasuna currently occupies the final European spot in seventh, and Sevilla can jump that high if they win at Bernabeu and depending on results from elsewhere.

Atletico Bilbao, who sits in the eighth position, will host already-relegated Elche while Osasuna travel to Getafe, and Girona, in the ninth, will welcome Real Betis. The results from these games will make or mar Sevilla’s European chances even though they could dramatically make the UEFA Champions League next season if they beat Roma in the UEFA Europa League final.

Games involving Valencia, Espanyol, Celta Vigo, Almeria, Real Valladolid, Getafe, and Cadiz all will play a huge impact on the relegation zone, with all seven teams not safe yet. Valencia will face Espanyol in a relegation battle, Cadiz will play Celta Vigo, and Almeria hosts Valladolid.
