Celtic have officially registered their interest in Real Oviedo winger Haissem Hassan, according to the latest reports from Spain.
The 24-year-old Egypt international has emerged as a serious transfer target for the Scottish Premiership club following his strong performances at the World Cup.
Initial Scottish media coverage suggested Celtic had already submitted two formal bids, with the second offer rising to €6 million after the first fell below Real Oviedo’s valuation.
However, more recent updates indicate that the Glasgow side is still at an earlier stage of negotiations.
Rather than formal bids, Celtic have made an enquiry and begun exploring the conditions required to secure the player’s signature.
This distinction is important. While the club has shown clear intent, an exploratory enquiry differs from a concrete offer on the table.
The latest information confirms Hassan is a player Celtic are keen to bring to Parkhead, with behind-the-scenes work underway to understand the full requirements of a potential deal.
Hassan has just one year remaining on his contract with Real Oviedo and is understood to have a €10 million release clause, activated following the Spanish club’s relegation.
While this clause provides a benchmark for negotiations, it does not necessarily mean Celtic would have to pay the full amount.
It does, however, give Oviedo stronger leverage and suggests any transfer would require careful and patient handling.
Celtic appear to have taken the first steps by establishing contact and gathering detailed information on the winger. The club is now assessing whether to convert this interest into a formal offer.
Hassan’s pace, technical ability, and recent international form have made him an attractive prospect as Celtic look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.
Whether the talks progress quickly will depend on how both parties approach the valuation gap and the player’s own preferences.
