Chelsea owners apologize for disastrous season, express optimism for the future

The owners of Chelsea issued an apology to the club’s fans during the week for the disappointing season, which saw them fail to secure any titles and finish eleventh in the Premier League, missing out on European positions.

The consortium led by American billionaire Todd Boehly acknowledged the poor performance as the worst in the recent history of the ‘Blues.’ In a letter, they expressed gratitude for the loyal support from the fans throughout the challenging period and highlighted the memorable atmosphere at Stamford Bridge during the match against Dortmund.

While acknowledging the need for improvement, the owners conveyed their optimism for the future and their excitement in welcoming new manager Mauricio Pochettino. They also mentioned their efforts in strengthening the scouting and talent identification team to build a consistently competitive squad capable of winning domestic and European competitions.

Apologizing to the fans is undoubtedly an embarrassing moment for any football club. The apology serves as a stark reminder of the club’s underwhelming performance and highlights the urgency to reverse the situation and return to their previous glory.

Below is an extract from the letter.

“It has clearly been a disappointing season, and there is much we can improve. During this difficult period, our fans have loyally supported our players, for England and for Europe, and we couldn’t be more grateful. When we play against Dortmund, the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge will be in our memories for a long time and is an important reminder of where we want to be.”

“We are also working on a scouting and talent identification team, led by Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, who will help us upgrade the elite, talented squad and who will be able to compete consistently to win the Premier League in domestic cups and be at the highest level in Europe.”
