Aston Villa beat Arsenal, as Leicester City top Premier League Table

Arsenal on Sunday evening lost 3-0 at the Emirates to Aston Villa on Sunday night in the English Premier League as Leicester City topped the standings going into the international break.

The Gunners failed to score against the Villans after winning their previous English Premier League game against Manchester United 1-0 last weekend.

They had also won 4-1 against Molde in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.

On Sunday, Aston Villa had scored an early goal through Jack Grealish but it was ruled out for offside by the VAR. Bukayo Saka’s own goal in the 25th minute gave the visitors the lead.

Ollie Watkin’s second half brace saw the Dean Smith side record another famous victory this season after they recorded a 7-2 victory against Liverpool few weeks back.

The win puts Villa in 6th with 15 points from 7 games while Arsenal are 11th with 12 points from 8 games played so far.

At the King Power Stadium, Leicester City got a 1-0 win against Wolves to replace Southampton and Tottenham on the top of the standings.

The Foxes got two penalties in the game but Skipper Jamie Vardy could only score one to snatch an important win.

They now top the log going into the international break after pipping Southampton and Spurs, who were temporarily on top of the log during the course of the weekend.

Tottenham led the table briefly on Sunday afternoon after a hard fought 1-0 win against West Brom. A late Harry Kane goal was all that settled the game.

Southampton had on Friday night defeated Newcastle 2-0 to go on to the top of the standings for the first time in the Premier League history.

However, the Saints ended the weekend in fourth with 15 points from 8 games while Spurs are second with 17 points, just one point behind Leicester City.
