De Laurentiis says Napoli will appoint a new manager in 10 days

Based on the latest development concerning Napoli’s next manager, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed when a new manager will likely be announced.

A top Italian newspaper reported that the club had reached an agreement with former Juventus and Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte.

Reacting to the latest information, De Laurentiis said the next ten days will be ‘decisive’ in talks with the former Chelsea manager, having made ‘all the necessary and objective assessments.’

Conte is expected to take over for the 2024-25 season e as all the significant sources in Italy confirmed that the Italian tactician has practically agreed on an €8m-a-year contract, which allows the ex-midfielder to become the highest-paid coach in Serie A.

Speaking about Conte’s possible appointment on Monday afternoon while attending an event against racism in Trentola Ducenta, the Napoli owner

“It is not fanaticism that must prevail but the fairness of reasoning,” he added.

Sky Sport Italia reported that the 2022-23 Serie A winners have made concrete steps forward in negotiations with the ex-Juventus and Inter coach. The new director, Giovanni Manna, will continue talking with Conte in a new meeting between Tuesday and Wednesday.

It was initially reported that Napoli could announce Conte’s appointment by Tuesday, but there seems to be a slight delay.

Conte has been on sabbatical since leaving Tottenham by mutual agreement in March 2023.

Napoli wanted the ex-Italy international in the middle of the season after sacking Walter Mazarri but wasn’t interested in taking over during that period.

Conte is already familiar with Serie A, having won four league titles as a coach, three at Juventus and once at Inter.
