Chelsea To Face Atletico Madrid In UEFA Champions League Round of 16

 

English Premier League side Chelsea will face Atlético Madrid in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League after the draws were made on Monday.

Frank Lampard’s side topped their group E, with Sevilla, Krasnodar, and Stade Rennes with 14 points from 6 games. They will be facing Diego Simeone’s side in a two-legged affair to determine if they’ll be moving into the quarter-finals.

Atletico Madrid qualified from Group A that had Bayern Munich, Lokomotiv Moscow, and FC Red Bull Salzburg, finishing second in the group behind that the Germans, who are the defending champions of the competition.

The first leg of the match would happen on the midweek of the 23rd to 24th of February 2021 at the Wanda Metropolitano before the second leg will occur at the Stamford Bridge.

Fellow English Premier League Side Manchester City will face Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach who are playing in the round of 16 of the competition for the first time since the 1970s.

Also, Liverpool will face German side RB Leipzig in the round of 16 with the first leg to come in Germany before the second leg at the Anfield stadium.

Over to the Europa League, Arsenal will be facing tough opposition in Portuguese side Benfica in the round of 32 of the competition.

Manchester United dropped from the UEFA Champions League into the Europa League after finishing third in the group with RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain. They will face Spanish side Real Sociedad.

Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur will face Austrian side AC Wolfsberger in the round of 32 while Leicester City would play against Czech side Slavia Prague.

Scottish side Rangers will face ROYAL Antwerp of Belgium in the next round of the competition. The final of the competition will be played in Poland in Gdansk.
