Survey of scouts, executives names LeBron James as NBA’s best player

In a poll of League scouts and executives carried out by ESPN, LeBron James was unequivocally voted as the best player in the NBA. The survey had eight scouts and executives who gave their opinion on the best player in the NBA and which Team had the best off season.

LeBron got seven out of the eight votes and thus beat Giannis Antetokounmpo, who won the last two MVP awards in the NBA.

Such popularity of LeBron James among the scouts and executives isn’t surprising though. He has had a massive impact on the LA Lakers’ performances.

Only the Eastern Conference Executive had his vote in favour of Antetokounmpo. He said that his vote would change depending on the question.

“If we’re talking about the best player over the course of a season, I’m not picking LeBron. If we are talking about in the playoffs, it’s probably LeBron, because he always is.”

Among active players, LeBron James is currently the highest scorer at 34,241. Carmelo Anthony is second in the list with 26,446. Kevin Durant sits at the third place with 22,923.

If the all time record is considered, LeBron is currently the third in the list. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the NBA all-time leading scorer at 38,387 and Karl Malone is in the 2nd place at 36,928.

ESPN’s survey also shows that LA Lakers were voted as the top team by the executives for the team which had the best off season. The La Lakers got four votes, whereas Atlanta Hawks got two votes. The other two votes went to the OKC Thunder and Philadelphia 76ers.

The panel also voted for the team which had the worst off season. Detroit Pistons and Houston Rockets got three votes each whereas the Milwaukee Hawks got the other two votes. The survey also suggested that James Harden will stay with the Houston Rockets this off season.
