Bayern Munich launched their 2026-27 Champions League campaign with a commanding victory over Bodo/Glimt at the Allianz Arena on Thursday evening. 

What began as a measured contest evolved into a dominant display as the home side eventually overwhelmed their Norwegian visitors.

The match opened at a patient tempo. Bayern controlled possession, but found Bodo/Glimt organised and resilient. 

Harry Kane tested goalkeeper Nikita Haikin with a curling effort from distance in the 10th minute that the keeper gathered comfortably. 

Michael Olise later cut inside and struck with his left foot, only for Haikin to make another routine save. 

The clearest first-half opportunity fell to Joshua Kimmich, whose low left-footed drive struck the post. 

Jamal Musiala then wriggled free and fired an effort that Haikin again denied. Bayern ended the half lacking intensity, with Kimmich’s subsequent shot comfortably saved.

The second half brought a decisive shift. Bayern started with greater purpose, and were rewarded early when Kane’s left-footed shot ricocheted into the path of Musiala. 

The midfielder produced a superb volley that found the far post and opened the scoring. Kane himself soon added the second, converting a header from Olise’s cross to register his 34th Champions League goal for the club.

With the lead secured, Bayern asserted complete control. Alphonso Davies made it three in the 76th minute, rifling a fierce left-footed strike from outside the box into the net. 

Late substitutions created further space, allowing Olise to drift into central areas. The Frenchman first curled a left-footed effort from 20 yards into the far corner, then completed his brace by firing another left-footed shot from the centre of the box into the top-left corner.

Vincent Kompany’s side finished hungry for more, showcasing the attacking fluency that has become their hallmark. 

Bayern’s clinical second-half display ensured a comfortable and emphatic start to their European campaign, underlining their quality, and depth against well-organised but ultimately outmatched opponents.
