Germany, who had already secured top spot in the group before kick-off, made an explosive start. Just two minutes into the match, Leroy Sane collected a clever pass from Florian Wirtz inside the penalty area before calmly finishing past goalkeeper Hernan Galindez to hand his side an early lead.

For Germany, the defeat carried little consequence in terms of qualification, with their place in the last 32 already guaranteed. Their performance, however, lacked urgency and intensity compared to Ecuador’s determined display.
The result also dealt a blow to Scotland’s hopes of advancing as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams, making their path to qualification considerably more difficult.
Having struggled to find the net in their first two matches, Ecuador finally showcased the attacking quality within their squad.
