If the report from French L’Équipe is anything to go by, Adi Hutter’s time at AS Monaco appears to be coming to an end.
According to the French paper, the Principality club have been sounding out the managerial market following a sub-standard start to the campaign despite sitting fifth in Ligue 1.
The report further said performances have been below expectations, which Hutter also administered.
This is coming following the 2-2 draw against OGC Nice on Sunday.
This has reportedly led the management of Monaco to look to sack Hutter and appoint a replacement ahead of the international break.
According to reports, there is a list of potential successors, but Edin Terzic is the one being most strongly linked with the Principality club. The German was last in the dugout of a Bundesliga side, leaving Borussia Dortmund, and has yet to return to management since then.
L’Équipe further revealed that the top echelon within the club is pushing for Terzic. Significant steps are now being taken to name a successor.
Hutter, who was appointed Monaco manager two years ago, extended his contract until 2027 back in January. However, his time at the Principality club may now be coming to an end.
L’Équipe also revealed that the club’s owner, Dmitry Rybolovlev, is personally handling the deal to bring in a new manager.
This could be done during the international break to allow the incoming manager to make some changes before the players return from international break with their respective countries.
The report says Monaco intend to announce a new manager within the next 72 hours as the German remains in pole position for the job.
Terzic has a rich CV, having led Dortmund, which he left in June 2024, to the Champions League final, which they lost 2-0 against Real Madrid.
The tactician also seems to be considering the move, according to reports, as his file has reportedly been taken over by President Rybolovlev himself.
