Endrick earns Ancelotti’s praise despite bench role at Brazil

Carlo Ancelotti has praised Endrick as a key figure for the future of the Brazil national team, following the teenager’s impressive loan spell away from Real Madrid.

The 19-year-old forward was allowed to join Olympique Lyon in January, a move that has already begun to pay dividends for both player and parent club.

Since arriving in France, Endrick has enjoyed regular game time and has made a strong impact, registering six goals and five assists in 14 appearances across all competitions.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, earning him a call-up to the Brazil squad during the current international break as he continues to build his case for a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.

Although he did not feature in Brazil’s recent match against France, the young forward is expected to have an opportunity to impress when Brazil face Croatia.

With competition for places intensifying, the upcoming fixture could prove decisive for Endrick as he looks to secure a long-term role within the national team setup.

Speaking about his development, Ancelotti highlighted Endrick’s versatility and growth, noting his transition from a central striker to a wider role that demands greater defensive responsibility.

The Italian coach expressed confidence in the youngster’s ability to adapt, emphasizing that his age, physicality, and attitude make him well-equipped to meet the challenge and continue progressing.

Ancelotti also provided updates on other key players, confirming that Vinícius Júnior will be available for the clash against Croatia despite recent training concerns.

He went on to praise both Vinícius and Raphinha, describing them as two of the best players in the world and expressing confidence that they will shine on the international stage.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are exploring midfield reinforcements ahead of the summer window.

Enzo Fernández is reportedly closer to a move to the Spanish giants than Rodri, with club president Florentino Pérez said to have little interest in pursuing the Manchester City star.

Fernández, currently at Chelsea, has openly expressed admiration for Madrid, potentially paving the way for a high-profile transfer in the near future.
