Real Madrid loanee Endrick has expressed the desire to stay at Olympique Lyonnais beyond the summer.
The loan deal of the 19-year-old sensation will expire this summer. He has been part of a rejuvenated Lyon squad that are well on course to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
This is making the Brazilian think of sticking around for the European campaign.
Before his move to Lyon, Endrick was struggling for game time at Real Madrid and, therefore, signed a short-term loan deal with Lyon in January.
Convinced that under fellow Lussophone Paulo Fonseca, he could get his career back on track and that he is likely to be part of the Brazil squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Endrick has contributed 8 goals and seven assists in 19 games. Having also scored the first hat-trick in his career, the expectation has always been that he would return to the Bernabeu at the end of the season.
After helping Lyon defeat Stade Rennais on Sunday night, he has put the club on the brink of UCL qualification. Endrick is not opposed to the idea of sticking around at the Groupama Stadium for next season.
“If I must go back to Real Madrid, I will; if I must extend here, I will extend here. I would like to stay here. They do everything to put me in the perfect conditions [to perform],” he told Ligue 1 Plus.
With this development, it’s now in Real Madrid’s hands to grant another extension to his current loan deal.
Staying here could benefit both parties, as more game time would provide the teenager with the big stage and the pressure that comes with playing for Los Blancos.
Lyon definitely doesn’t have the resources to sign such a quality player and pay his wages, but it’s a good opportunity to have a class act within the squad that lifts them whenever they are down.
