Endrick’s Real Madrid dream faces uncertain future amid limited playing time

Real Madrid’s young Brazilian forward, Endrick, once heralded as the next big thing in world football, is facing an uncertain period in his career.

The 19-year-old, who joined the Spanish giants in July 2024 after turning 18, has seen his opportunities diminish under new manager Xabi Alonso.

Despite a promising debut season where he scored seven goals in 37 appearances, most of them from the bench, Endrick has played just 14 minutes so far this campaign.

Injuries have played a role in the teenager’s struggles. A hamstring problem kept him out of the Club World Cup and the start of the current season.

Though he returned to fitness in September, Alonso has preferred other attacking options, leaving Endrick to watch from the sidelines in six consecutive matches before a brief late cameo against Valencia.

His continued absence from Brazil’s national team, now managed by former Real boss Carlo Ancelotti, has further raised questions about his development.

Real Madrid are now reportedly weighing the option of sending Endrick out on loan during the January transfer window.

Though the forward is said to be happy in Madrid, the club recognizes that consistent first-team football elsewhere could accelerate his growth.

French side Lyon have shown concrete interest, while several Premier League clubs, including West Ham, are believed to be monitoring his situation.

However, the physicality of English football and the risk of joining a struggling team could make such a move risky for the teenager.

For Endrick, a potential loan comes with both opportunity and danger. Success elsewhere could convince Alonso to integrate him into Madrid’s long-term plans, while a difficult spell might harm his confidence and reduce his value.

Real Madrid, having invested up to €72 million in the forward, remain cautious about making any move that could jeopardize his future prospects.

Ultimately, Endrick’s immediate path will depend on how much faith Alonso shows in the coming weeks. A run of first-team opportunities could keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu, but continued bench time might push the club toward approving a temporary move.
