Spalletti wants Sorloth after Kolo Muani’s arrival

Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti wants the club to sign Alexander Sørloth even after the arrival of Randal Kolo Muani.

According to reports, this deal could hinge on the future of Nico González.

Tuttosport reported that the former Inter Milan and Roma boss has long admired the Atletico Madrid striker as the kind of penalty-box target man his system craves.

It was also gathered that the tactician had personally contacted the Norway international to outline his plans.

There was reportedly talks with Atlético under the previous regime of Damien Comolli and Marco Ottolini.

It was also gathered that the lanky striker was enthusiastic about a move to Turin, only for Juventus’s boardroom upheaval, Comolli’s exit, and the arrivals of chief executive Giovanni Carnevali and sporting director Frederic Massara to slow everything down.

Meanwhile, Juventus could face another obstacle while trying to land the Norwegian as Atlético’s already valued him at around €40m.

It could be a win-win situation for both parties as Gonzalez made no secret of his wish to reunite with Diego Simeone, and Atlético continue to pursue him.

It was reported that Juventus want at least €30m to open negotiations.

With both parties want to have a deal, there could be a discount on the table, with one condition attached: that Atlético sanction a paid loan of Sørloth in the other direction.

It would be a good deal for Juventus, due to the arrival of Kerim Alajbegović,  crowding an already busy forward line and nudging González towards the exit.

Spalletti’s persistence is based on Sørloth’s performance over the last three seasons, which has seen him post returns even better than Kolo Muani’s: 26 goals for Villarreal, then 24 and 20, before becoming a luxury option at Atlético, where Julián Álvarez leads the line.

The Norwegian is looking forward to playing for Spalletti as all concerned parties are now studying a formula that suits both coaches, and, above all, both balance sheets.
