England aims for first win at Wembley in four games

After interim boss Lee Carsely helped England to a 2-0 win over the Republic of Ireland in Dublin at the weekend in their UEFA Nations League (UNL) Group B2 opener, the Three Lions will hope to finally get their first Wembley win in their last four attempts when Finland visits London.

England has failed to win its last three matches at Wembley, having lost to Brazil and Iceland 1-0 in both games and a 2-2 draw with Belgium. The Three Lions have, since those games, managed to get to the final of the UEFA Euro Championships, where they lost to Spain.

However, it’s a case of redemption for England, who dropped to League B of the UEFA Nations League, and they are heavy favorites to get promoted to League A immediately.

England’s next opponent, after last week’s win over Ireland, is a team that they have not lost to in their last 11 fixtures, winning nine of those games.

Finland lost in their last match in a 3-0 loss away in Greece and are now winless in their last four and only winning once in their last five matches.

Finland managed to win six of their 13 matches in their UEFA Nations League campaign, although they find it difficult to win away from home, having lost four of their last five trips. However, Harry Kane will make a milestone appearance with a 100th after making his 99th senior cap in the win over Ireland.

England interim manager has indicated that there won’t be a lot of changes to the starting lineup especially with no injury worries as of Monday evening.

“If you make 11 changes, it maybe sends out the wrong signal. The good thing about this group is they are highly motivated to do well. There will be two or three changes, but not wholesale changes. We have to make sure we protect the players as well.” Carsley said.
