The Union of European Football Associations have announced the team of the tournament in which they named five Italian and three England players. Surprisingly, there was no place for Golden Boot winner Cristiano Ronaldo despite the fact Portuguese talisman striker scored five goals in four matches.
However, out of Ronaldo’s five goals, three came off penalties. Meanwhile, Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnaroma has been named the keeper of the team. The youngster was also named Player of the tournament and it has happened the first time when a goalkeeper has achieved that. Furthermore, he saved three penalties in the final against England. Moreover, he kept three clean sheets throughout the tourney.
Meanwhile, England’s Harry Maguire and Italy’s Leonardo Bonucci were picked as centre backs in the defensive line. Furthermore, England’s Kyle Walker was picked as right back by UEFA. Italy’s Leonardo Spinazzola was also able to make the cut into the team as a right-back despite the fact that he didn’t play in semifinal and final encounters due to Tendon injury.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who provided three assists for Denmark, makes the cut as the only Danish player in the team. Italy’s Jorginho and Spain young gun Pedri also get a place in the UEFA team of the tournament.
Federico Chiesa (Italy), Romelu Lukaku (Belgium), Raheem Sterling (England) are the strikers of the team. Chiesa created an impact every time he had the ball with his pace and dribbling skills. Lukaku scored four goals, Sterling netted three goals whereas Chiesa scored twice for Italy.
